The Best Cat Cafe / Study Room in Hong Kong?

Cats, cats, cats. Who doesn't love them? ( if you don't, I'm burning you at the stakes) Cute, wonderful, and sassy, cats are the pinnacle of joy. Thus, naturally, I have been on a quest to visit all the cat cafes in Hong Kong. Throughout my venture, I have came across many worthy candidates that could be labelled as THE BEST, but the search is over as this cafe/workspace truly takes the cake.

HUG and HOME

Nestled in a seemingly shady alleyway stands an unsuspecting building. By taking the lift to the 12th floor, you have now entered cat heaven. Hug and Home is a cozy cafe/workspace in Wan Chai that houses many cats! Separated into two spaces, customers can either choose to work in the 'focus' room or play with cats and chat in the 'chill' area. While the space is small, it offers a homey vibe with friendly staff. The spotlight however are the many, many cats.

The unique aspect of this cafe/workspace that no other cat cafes in Hong Kong have, is that all the cats present (except the black cat manager) can be adopted! Previously street cats, all the cats are now awaiting their forever homes. Hug and Home provides a chance for customers to spend time and become possible adopters of the cat they feel most connected to. All the cats have unique personalities and have their own individual spunky charm. As they were street cats, some are afraid or shy of humans, however they are still as lovable as any other cats. Do practice caution though.

My personal favorite cat was chunky girl MoonMoon! Clingy, affectionate, and well-tempered, she was a joy to be around. Often, she will be the one greeting guests at the door with a big ol belly flop. Despite her huge size, she's surprisingly very active and playful. She wins the heart of any and all people who visit.

While they do not have a broad food menu, they do offer free complimentary drinks, snacks and $10 coffee capsule drinks. They also sell merchandise packages of the cats which include stickers and tags, all proceeds going to the medical bills of the cats.

Check their website for prices and dates available, it is advised to book an appointment online beforehand! Needless to say, the cafe has earned itself a new regular.
